I
am a Danish born artist that relocated to Los Angeles, California in
1968. I am currently living in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
I do commissions for local and distant clients.
My
interest in art began when I was a small girl. I took long walks with
my parents absorbing the beauty of the Danish countryside. In addition,
we also visited museums and botanical gardens. At 14 years of age I
received my first camera and I took many photographs of spider webs,
bird nests and even dew drops. These and other scenes inspired in me
a desire to capture them on canvas and paper.
In
my early years I began to develop my art in Copenhagen. Then I went
to Paris, the French countryside and Luzanne in Switzerland. There were
also travels through Europe (England, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Madera
Island), Turkey, Hawaii, and the Philippines. Everywhere there were
visits with the local people, museums, and cemeteries to absorb the
culture and art. It offered an opportunity to photograph old architecture,
people, and nature. Some photographs were given to admirers- others
used for my paintings which have been sold around the world.
I
have a great love for the works of the old masters, particularly those
of the Dutch flower period. After spending one year in copying flower
paintings (combining several in one) I knew what artistic path to follow-
principally nature paintings. My art works are called "The Child
of Nature", because that's what I can relate to. However, I also
love to paint people in their natural environment.
In
watercolor I try to capture its softness in a poetic way; whereas in
oil I explore in a dark mystic mood as did the old masters. Details
are very important in my paintings because I want them to appear as
if God had created them himself on paper and canvas.
